Happy Mother's Day

May 12, 2013

What a wonderful Mother's Day it was today. Matt and i ate a delicious pancake breakfast and then enjoyed a wonderful day at church. The Missionaries spoke and did such a great job. I was deeply touched by their spirits and testimonies. They each spoke about their mothers and how they have been blessed because of them. The whole time i was thinking back to all the things my mom helped me through and all the things she has done for me and still does for me. Some of my earliest memories of my mom are of me helping her cook in the kitchen, even if i was more of a bother than a help i never felt that way. She was the one who taught me how to cook and bake. In fact the same electric mixer she taught me to bake with is sitting in my kitchen right now and i use it at least weekly for something or another.

I have noticed that the older i get the more like my mom i become. From the way she keeps her house and yard, to the way she decorates and organizes, and the way she must have plants and flowers everywhere, and the simple pleasures of having a bird and hummingbird feeder. Her Christlike attributes have been a beacon to follow and emulate all through my life. He push towards education and finishing what you start have always helped me to work my best and strive to reach my full potential.

It was my mom (and dads) suggestion that i serve a mission. What a blessing that has been in my life! It was on my mission that our relationship really grew. Through letter writing and 3 phone calls through out the 18 month period, i got to know my mom on a whole new level, and i am so bless to have had that time.

My mom was the best wedding planner a girl could ask for! Its like she knew exactly what i saw in my head and she made it a reality! She has always been such an inspiration to me with my health and has place in me the desire to keep myself in the best health possible no matter what it takes.

I am so blessed to have a mom who is always available to give me family recipe instructions over the phone, or home remedies for grass stained pants, or which medicines to take for what and when. My mom is a "Jan of all trades" and i love her for it! If i can be even half the women she is i will consider myself a lucky girl.

Mom, I love and appreciate who you are and all you do. Now that i have a home of my own i realize just how much time and effort it takes to keep a house hold running (and i don't even have a yard and 4 kids yet). You are and always will be an inspiration to me! I love you so much and i wish you the happiest of Mother's Days to you!

And to all those other women in my life that have been mothers to me, i wish you all a Happy Mother's Day as well!
