A Fantastic Birthday

April 7, 2013

Happy Birthday to me!!! This has been such a great weekend! Its funny how when my birthday falls on a Sunday the whole weekend turns in to a birthday celebration. I'm not complaining! Saturday Matt took me to Olive Garden for lunch! it was super delicious and enough food for lunch and dinner! Matt got the five cheese ziti pasta and i had a new item on the menu called sea food lasagna rolls! Super yummy! there is a pic of it in the top left corner. Then that evening i went to Nails by Lynn with Abby to get a pedicure and manicure! it was my first time getting a manicure and i think i might be addicted... i got a type of polish put on called shellac. it makes your nails really hard and sturdy and keeps the polish on and looking nice for a long time. its basically baked on to your nails... and of course for my toes i got the brightest pink they had! with a cute little flower and jewel on it! Abby was so nice and gave me two sets of lotion and body wash and spray. she has been such a great lady to work for!

Sunday morning i woke up and when i went out of our bedroom in to the hall there were balloons hung all over the ceiling! Matt had gotten up in the night and decorated the house with balloons and a birthday banner! So cute! He also wrapped a few gifts for me! I really felt spoiled! He gave me my favorite cereal, and birthday cake Oreo's, Lion King 2, and a gift card to buy flowers and other things for the balcony! I am so excited! I have Tuesday and Wednesday off this next week so i will have lots of time to get things bought and planted!

General Conference was this weekend as well. it was so nice to be able to sit at the feet of the prophet and apostles and hear the word of the God. We are truly blessed to have the knowledge that we do! Because we are in the singles ward now, we were asked to watch conference at the institute. We were also assigned to bring a dessert for the luncheon between sessions. I made a big birthday cake for me and Jessica, a girl in the ward who was celebrating her birthday as well! She was so surprised when she saw her name on the cake, and it made me feel really good to see her surprised face!

Once we got home i cooked my most favorite meal that my parents would always make for my birthday. its a terriyaki chicken and mixed rice. both recipe's came from my family! My dad came up with the chicken recipe and my mom is the master mind for the delicious rice! it was a taste of home for me. Then we got to Google chat with my family for over an hour! That was fun too! I blew out a candle on a piece of cake with them and everything! We all had cake too in our different locations, but it made me feel like a very good birthday. One of the best yet!

This General Conference was absolutely amazing. Each talk was filled with the spirit and i felt so strengthened and edified. Now comes the more difficult part... remembering the messages and doing what they said. Matt and i took lots of notes and we plan to use them. I was reading in the April Ensign last week and found an article that gave me a good idea for how to continue to read and study the talks during the time between April and October. What we are going to do is figure out how many talks we would need to study each week in order to finish them all before October Conference. Then we will each study the talks for each week on our own and make notes of what we liked about them. Once a week on a chosen evening we will read the talk together and share the thoughts and ideas we had in our personal study of each talk. I am excited to start doing this together.

Overall this has been such a wonderful weekend! Also, to all my friends and family that wished me a happy birthday, thank you for remembering and thinking about me. I have such amazing people in my life!

Cheers!
