Omaha Zoo

October 16, 2012

Today Matt and I ventured to the Omaha, NE Zoo! Matt's fall break was the beginning of this week and we decided to take advantage of the opportunity! It was such a fun adventure! The last Zoo i had been to was in the spring of 2010 the Saturday before i went home from my mission. The Dinkytown singles ward that i was serving in had a ward activity at the Zoo and a few of our converts and investigators were going and we were asked to go along and work on fellow-shipping and gaining trust of the members. It was fun although the St. Paul Zoo was nothing compared to the Omaha Zoo! We were there for over 4 hours and didn't even get to see all the animals or exhibits! it was kinda great to see such active animals too! To see all my videos and pictures you'll have to check out my facebook page. There are some fun things posted there.

Our adventure didn't stop there though! We went to The largest furniture store i have ever been in! It was incredible! and we seriously could have been there for hours just looking at all the designs and sets they had. Matt just wanted to check out a recliner and take a nap! We had heard good things about the store and had to check a few things out for our hopeful Christmas gift to ourselves!

The next adventure was to find a Panda Express. I guess that restaurant is not as popular out here. In the whole city of Omaha there were... 3 locations an they were all a 10 mile drive from where we were. It sure was yummy food though!

Our Second to last stop was the Winter Quarters Temple where we were to attend the 6 pm session. We were asked to be the witness couple and it was a beautiful small session in a beautiful small temple. The celestial room was exquisite! The crystal chandelier was gorgeous! Not to mention the gold leafed designs on the walls and ceiling. Just wonderful!

And finally our last stop was to a small little Ice Cream stand just a couple blocks from the Temple. I had a very yummy chocolate oreo and brownie shake, and Matt had a chocolate cookie dough shake... they were our of vanilla ice cream. Then it was off to Lincoln, which was just 45 min away. Its amazing to think that we live such a short distance to some of the church history sights here in the Midwest. we hope to get to Nauvoo a few times while we are here.

Well there you have it! Our fantastic day in Omaha!
