A Tear or Two...

October 13, 2012

So the title of this blog is a tear or two... it refers to a text i got from the mother i nanny for. It reads:

"Jack just told me, 'April is my best friend. I miss her so much.' We are so lucky to have you! :)"

I actually did shed a few tears when i read that little text. I often wonder if the work i do proves important or purposeful, and today i received proof that my hard work is paying off! I just love that little family so much and knowing that they love me in return means the whole world to me. This one experience has helped me to realize that God has dictated everything in my life and that He knew little Jack needed April in his growing years, especially right now. I found out that their dad Evan has been called to Iraq in February for the Air Force. He will be gone for 6 months. I can't imagine what that would be like for their family, and i am just happy to know that i am here to help them in any ways that i can.

I truly admire children for the way they share their thoughts and feelings so openly. It was so simple for Jack to just open up to his mom and tell him what he did concerning me, and for his mom Abby to text it to me was amazing! Yet i know for myself and for others, doing that is just too hard, and things go unsaid and unnoticed. How unfortunate that is. Knowing now how much that little text meant to me i want to be sure to always let people know the good things i think about them all the time.

God does watch out for us, all of us. I am so grateful for the tender mercies he has shown me here, through people in the ward, my neighbors, my husband, and even a 3 year old, Jack, acted as a tender mercy from Heaven just when i needed it most. I encourage everyone who reads this to be sure to thank Heavenly Father today and tomorrow and forever. And never be afraid to share your feelings and thoughts of others, you never know it might just change their life, just as Jack has changed mine.

Now for a quick run down of today's adventures!

Today began as a very hot and muggy Saturday, but as the day went on it kept getting better! Matt sang the National Anthem for a State Marching Band Competition, and as always, did a fabulous job. We then began a scavenger hunt for the closest Post Office. My trusted GPS took us to a Post Office that was no longer a Post Office... it had been closed long ago. I guess its time to buy an upgrade for the GPS, i got her back in 2009 and have yet to up grade her...

The next adventure took us to the local grocery store HyVee, which had canned food on sale! Yay for food storage! We loaded 48 cans of corn and beans in our cart then realized there was a limit of 8 cans total for the sale price. WHAT??? So Matt got a second cart and we each got 8 cans and checked out through different lines. What is up with putting a limit on the amount of canned food you can buy at the sale price??? Do people here not build up food storage?

Once returning home Matt had lots of work to do on a paper, which left me the better part of the afternoon to clean the whole apartment and do laundry! I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to have a clean house and clean laundry.

Matt was still working on his paper when i had finished all my tasks so i decided to finish preparing my lesson for church tomorrow. Out side the whole sky was a golden yellow color and clouds were on their way in! Thunder showers and lightening have been a wonderful touch to this closing day! And then the evening came to an end with a delicious grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup, (9 points)Yum!
