Gotta Love Halloween Treats!

October 11, 2012

I had to blog on this great day of days with it being 10-11-12 and all... today was a typical Thursday; i went to work at Abby's house with my three boys had lots of fun playing and making little ghosts out of toilet paper and thread (my sisters should recall these). And after expecting to be there till after 5 pm Abby shows up early (around 4) and says the divorcing couple settled and things finished early! Yay! So off to Walmart i went with my paycheck to pick up a few essentials, ya know bread, milk, broccoli, and Captain Crunch for the hubby.

On my way home from the store i had the windows down to enjoy the nice cool October air and discovered a very very foul smell that covered the whole of Lincoln. My mind went straight to a Doctor Who episode where an alien species is trying to make the earth a breading ground for their kind by putting smelly gas into the air (breeding food). Anyways... it gave me the worst head ache and i had to cancel my anticipated run around the neighborhood. After watching some Doctor Who and eating a stir fry dinner, my head ache was gone and i felt like baking! Very opposite from running and still fulfilling in its own way. As you can see i decided that today would be the day that i continue my yearly tradition of making these yummy Halloween kitty treats during the month of October! Aren't they adorable? I must brag about the fact that i made over 50 of these little things in under an hour!

Just in case anyone wants to try these little treats here is the recipe:

1 chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
3/4 c peanut butter (crunchy or creamy) *i always use creamy because it makes it easier to mold*
1/3 c water

Mix all ingredients well. Roll dough into 1" balls (i use a teaspoon cookie scoop) and place on a greased cookie sheet. flatten them with the bottom of a cup or your fingers. Mold kitty ears in the top of each cookie and place mini M&M's for eyes and a nose. Then take a toothpick and press whiskers into the cookie dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

And of course, the points for these yummies: 2 cookies = 3 points

I hope these little cookies will bring smiles to you and anyone you might share them with this month! Happy Halloween!
