Meet My Boys

October 5,2012

It's about time you meet the boys that i nanny every week! Starting from left and going right there is Grant, Harrison, and Jackson.

Grant is 2 years old and has been diagnosed with a certain eating disorder where he is unable to recognize when he is full. He also doesn't talk at all yet has become much more vocal since my first day with them. He loves to climb up into the fireplace and pretend like he is going to climb in it so i will come and get him out. He is also the escape artist! He can always find a way to get into something he shouldn't!

Harrison is 6 weeks old and loves to spit-up! I have to change his clothing and burp rags at least once each day. He is very alert for his age and for the very first time in my life i gave a very young baby a bath! He didn't much like being exposed (cold) but once the warm water was being poured over his cute little belly he was just fine and i think enjoyed it! He makes my job fun for sure!

Jackson just turned 3, two weeks ago. Matt and i took a Sesame Street Memory game to him and after a few days of practice he now knows how to play the game. Jackson is so well behaved and LOVES his little brothers. He struggles with sharing, but will always find a different toy for Grant to play with. Several times each day Jack with come and give Harrison a kiss and say, "He's so cute!" Jackson loves "Pajama Days." To tell you the truth most days are pajama days (note the above picture).

We have a lot of fun on the days that i am there. Here is a quick run down of the daily schedule for these three:

7:30 - 8:30 Wake up, change, and eat breakfast
8:30-10 Play time
10 Grant takes a nap, Continued play time
11 Grant gets up and play time
12 Lunch
12:30 can you guess? More play time!
2 Naps for everyone!
4 Wake up and eat a snack
4:30-5:30 If weather is good play outside and Mom comes home
*Baby Harrison eats about every 2.5 - 3 hours then sleeps most of the time. I do spend time with him playing and talking as well through out the day as i find time.

Well there you have it! My three boys! Now for some more fun news! I just found out that i will have another 2 boys added to my fun week! The Anderson Family in our ward has a 3 year old named Carson, and a 7 or 8 week old named Conner. Kristi the mom will be going back to work the week of the October 22 and i will be watching her kids one or two times a week.

Boys all around! I wonder if God is preparing me for something... Speaking of being prepared, i must say that i feel very privileged to have this opportunity to learn first had the skills of parenting even though i don't have kids yet. Already it has been a great learning experience and i absolutely LOVE my boys! Even on the fussy days i can love them enough... and knowing that i can have that much love for someone else's children i can't imagine the love that i will feel for my own children someday.

Being a nanny gives me a feeling of fulfillment at the end of each working day and i get excited to go back and make a small contribution to the growth and happiness of just a few children, i doubt any of them will remember me later in life, yet i know that right now i play a very big role in their development and their lives. I have such a new outlook on parenthood and i am looking forward to it with anticipation!
